Potential for Skilled Workers

There is plenty of potential for small and medium-sized companies in FrankfurtRheinMain (FRM) to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. This portal will provide you with some information on how to successfully recruit international skilled workers and students from abroad.

There are some sections of the working population that companies do not really focus on, and which they could actively target. Among these are women, experienced skilled workers over 50, employees with disabilities and semi-skilled and unqualified workers. In the long term, however, even they cannot meet the growing demand for qualified skilled workers.

In an international region like FRM, therefore, it makes sense to recruit skilled workers from abroad. Not only large companies, but also many of the local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are already targeting people from abroad in their recruitment processes.

The increase in the number of refugees arriving in Germany since 2015 is also an option for companies which are looking for suitable employees. Refugees, of course, are subject to a specific regulatory framework. Therefore, FRM has its own advisory services which offer advice on employing refugees.

Information on the recruitment of other groups of people, such as those over the age of 50 or those with disabilities, as well as staff retention, is provided on the website of the Kompetenzzentrum Fachkräftesicherung KOFA (Centre of Excellence on Securing Skilled Workers).
