Art and Culture

Whether classical music, pop, jazz, hip hop or rock, classical art collections, industrial design or street art, ballet, opera or music clubs - FrankfurtRheinMain (FRM) comes out on top with its wide range of cultural activities. There is guaranteed to be something for every age and every taste.

All of the cities in the FrankfurtRheinMain region have at least one community theatre, one symphony orchestra, and in some cases, also a ballet. Alongside the large cultural institutions, there are countless smaller and larger theatres, music clubs and bars, and much more. FRM is on more than 100 stages throughout the region.

One of the most popular venues is the English Theatre Frankfurt. Here, there are top quality performances of plays of various genre – classics, comedies and thrillers, as well as musicals. The shows are cast in New York and London, and they are always well received by an enthusiastic, international audience.

There is a wide range of museums in FRM, in particular in Frankfurt am Main. Here, more than 60 museums and exhibition spaces are spread across the city. In the entire region there are around 200, including internationally renowned museums as well as small, local museums. The Kulturregion FrankfurtRheinMain website provides an overview of museums and exhibitions, and you can also download brochures on various themes.

Further highlights in FRM are:

The international Theatre Festival Starke Stücke, has been putting on plays which have been specially chosen for children and young people since 1994. The Industrial Heritage Trail enables you to visit sites of industrial heritage that you would normally only see from the outside. There is a bit of everything, from harbours to industrial plants, bridges, railway stations, water treatment plants and technology parks. It is not just of interest to adults. The Industrial Heritage Trail Junior has been specially designed for children and young people to have fun learning about architecture, craftsmanship, production processes and upcycling.

Useful Contacts

Glauberg is a very special place that was inhabited by mankind as far back as the Neolithic Age. Excavations from three Celtic tombs from the 5th century BC and the statue of a Celtic ruler found here are unique, and are recognised throughout the world as an archaeological sensation.

The museum is part of the Celtic World at the Glauberg, which also houses a research centre and a large archaeological park. In the park there is a reconstruction of a burial mound, a mysterious system of banks and ditches, and fortifications from the early Celtic period. Remains from other historical periods can be found on the Glauberg plateau.
